My favorite way to start the day is with a fruit smoothie. Especially one that I make at home so I know exactly what is going into it. It was brought to my attention several years ago, that there are a ton of unnecessary preservatives and sugar in almost everything we buy at the grocery store. I started reading labels and being more aware of what I put into my mouth/body. I notice a huge difference in the way I feel everyday that I eat consciously.
My Breakfast Smoothie
* 1 cup of fresh squeezed juice (I like Trader Joe’s tangerine or apple)
* 1/4 cup of organic, plain, non-fat yogurt
* 1 banana
* 1/2 cup of frozen fruit (I like a mix of mango, pineapple, blueberries and strawberries)
Combine all ingredients in a blender until desired consistency!
