Covergirl BB Cream

I have been hearing about BB Creams for quite sometime now and I am curious. What’s all the hype about? Is it just tinted moisturizer? It seems like every brand is making one  and it has been the hot beauty item of 2012. So, I did a little research, found a ton of articles explaining it all, and picked one up for under 10 bucks to test out!

“This innovative skincare-meets-makeup product is a real globe trekker. Invented in the 1950’s by a German dermatologist named Christine Schrammek, the BB cream (also known as beauty balm or blemish balm) was originally designed to help post-peel patients mask redness. It wasn’t until decades later that BB creams resurfaced on a different continent. In 2005, Korean brands such as Dr. Jart brought the concept to the Asian market and they quickly spread to other countries. These all-in-one products combine the functions of a primer, anti-aging serum, moisturizer, and light foundation—plus, many contain added benefits like SPF.”

My squeaky clean face!

I have been testing out the Covergirl BB Cream for several weeks now and the verdict is: I LOVE it!! It is very convenient and I feel like it adds a little illumination to my face, which is what makes it different from a regular tinted moisturizer. It is perfect under my powder with my everyday make-up (and has held up to the recent heat wave)  but is also great on its own for just running errands or going to the gym. Now I understand the hype! BB Cream is an amazing, “all-in-one” product.  I want to try them all!

  1. Thanks for the great info! I was debating trying it and now I’m going for it!
P.s. you look great with AND without makeup beautiful lady!

  2. Love how it looks, and I agree with the comment above you look great without make-up too!! I love your lipgloss, which one do you use?

    • Thank you Lena. The lipgloss is a Lancôme Juicy Tube in a light sparkly pink whose name has rubbed off. :)

  3. The colour match was less than ideal, however, and the oil control was honestly just alright. Despite that, I was ready to give up and stick to this BB cream. I was just going to fool everyone’s eyes with blush and blot my face once or twice a day.And then I heard about NARS’ new Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. Since I was quite a fan of NARS products (Sheer Glow still looks great in the summer and their blushes are great), I researched this new tinted moisturizer and was surprised to see so many positive reviews. I ran to the NARS counter at The Bay as soon as I could, only to find out that they were being released here in Canada only a week and half later. In turns out in fact that they were a Nordstrom exclusive for the time being. Thankfully, I was headed to San Francisco a few days later (more on that wonderful trip in a later entry!), and I ran to the Nordstrom location in Union Square the first chance I had and purchased this tinted moisturizer.
