Well, another week is coming to an end and Friday is here again! I love this awesome image from 1st Class Fashion by way of Mint and Lolly. Fabulous fashion, wild hair and Champagne! 3 of my favorite things! This week was extra busy after spending 3 days in Ojai. It is so relaxing and recharging there. This weekend I am excited to spend an afternoon with friends having brunch at Terranea and seeing one of my all time faves, The Pixies, at The Hollywood Bowl! Then I have to pack for Hawaii!!! I can’t believe I leave next week! I have been planning this trip since May and it felt like it would never get here! What fun things are on your agenda? Here are some of my favorite things this week:
* Spending time in Ojai with Karen and her family, having a feast under the stars, taking a pottery lesson, checking out her tile work at the Chief’s Peak bar at the Ojai Rancho Inn, relaxing at Meditation Mount, and thrift shopping (they have a ton in Ojai and Ventura).
* This pop up art park in Boston looks amazing. I would love to see more of that going on in open spaces across the country!
* Mastering the “selfie”. This video is perfect. Speaking of selfies I love my new pink hair!
* Ever see clothes or accessories on your favorite TV show and wonder where you can get them? Checkout Spylight and never wonder again. This is brilliant!
*Getting my first professional bikini wax and discovering the beauty of hard wax.
* You know I love a bargain and this website is full of free, printable coupons and coupon codes for all sorts of things including a lot of beauty products. I have a couple of friends who are obsessed with couponing (you know who you are…Rikki…Bonnie…) and if you haven’t discovered this yet your welcome!
* Inexpensive face masks that I also use on my hands and feet when they get really dry!
Last week I enjoyed a day of pampering and relaxation at the Second Annual LIVELOVESPA SPLASH event in LA. I was treated to a 30 minute mini oxygen facial from Intraceuticals that was so amazing I didn’t need makeup the rest of the day and met with a selection of the most exciting brands within the spa industry! The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegaswas there serving up signature cocktails to cool down guests as it was nearly 100 degrees that day!
I met so many wonderful people and got to take home so many amazing products that I am going to have to start a “Beauty Product of the Week” post to review all of them! Here is a sneak peek at what I got! Stay tuned to find out how they worked!
Moroccanoil– I am already a huge fan of this brand. The Hair Treatment is amazing for all hair types. I have been using it on myself as well as in the salon for years and nothing else even comes close. It is the best leave in treatment. It defrizzes and adds amazing shine. If you have never tried it I highly recommend picking up a small bottle and giving it a whirl. The scent is very unique. Most people love it so I was thrilled to get to try the body wash and body shimmer oil! I of course love them too.
Trophy Skin at home Microdermabrasion– I love the idea of this. It is a lot more cost effective then getting the treatment done at a spa. Then you can put your money towards a different kind of facial that you can’t do at home! I got a Stem Cell Serum sample to try.
PrAna– This lifestyle brand had gorgeous workout/yoga clothes. They gave me a cute headband and reusable tote bag!
COOLA Suncare– They say that their organic sunscreen is so awesome that you want to put it on and they aren’t kidding. The spray on Pina Colada sunscreen smells so delicious and feels so light and its not sticky! It will be perfect for my upcoming trip to Hawaii!
PAVÉ Toenail Crystals– The lovely girls from PAVÉ embellished my big toes with their crystals and I loved them! They have stayed on for a week and my feet have never felt fancier!
Jandilli– I am trying out the face/body cream as well as the Brightening Eye Cream that I already love. The way the top pops up on the bottle is brilliant!
Clairsonic Sonic Radiance– I already own a Clairsonic and love it so I am excited to try their line of products with it. So far I used the AM and PM cleanser and brightening serum once and I already see a difference. My skin tone feels even and bright!
Knesko Skin– This is a holistic luxury line of face and eye masks made with Diamond Powder and 24K Nanogold (fancy!). I sampled the eye pads at the event and they were amazing. I can’t wait to try the whole face mask!
Circadia– This line not only makes skincare but they have a super soft, hydrating pillow case as well that I am already in love with. I am sampling the Moisturizer with SPF 37 which is fantastic. Lightweight not heavy and greasy. I am also going to be trying the Vitamin C Serum which is supposed to be life changing!
Hydro Peptide Power Serum– I am loving all of these serums. I am going to use each one separately for a month at a time to really get a feel for what they do!
The Comphy Co.– They gave me a pillow case too, which I love. This one is very luxurious as they sell to high end spas and hotels.
Vita Liberta– You all know how much I love sunless tanning products and these are top of the line! They have a long lasting formula that after 3 applications can last up to 2-3 weeks! I am on my second application now and love it. It goes on colored so you can see where you are putting it and it dries up fast so you can’t even feel it on. It has a very mild fragrance too which is perfect.
As you know, one of my nearest and dearest friends, Carrie Kim, had her first book published and has begun her book signing tour! The first stop was Skylight Books in Los Feliz over Memorial Day weekend. It was so much fun! Carrie spoke about her inspirations and love for LA, took questions like a pro, and signed away! After that we headed to the iconic Dresden for a celebratory cocktail and then hit up Good Times at Davey Wayne’s. What a night! If you missed out on that, you can catch Carrie Wednesday night in DTLB at Beachwood BBQ for happy hour from 5-7!
Prior to attending the grand opening of DYLN, a new active wear/yoga shop, I had only heard of this magical wonderland called the OC Mix. This lovely spot, tucked away off the 405, is home to locally owned boutiques, specialty food spots, and a farmers market. The perfect use of indoor/outdoor space makes it somewhere you want to go and stay awhile. Everything is just so darn cute. A meat/cheese shop, a tiny little record store called Analog, a fancy coffee bar Portola, a wine bar, a tea shop, a barware store selling everything you need to make craft cocktails, and the list goes on and on. I would highly recommend checking it out this summer!
SIP Lounge at The Renaissance Hotel in DT Long Beach isn’t just for tourists. With new chef Janine Falvo (you might recognize her from Top Chef Season 9) an “ocean-to-table” menu, and refreshing cocktails, why not? I fell in love with the decor and cocktails last year when I posted about their wildflower martini.
Wade and I were invited to Sip earlier this month (on his birthday to be exact) to meet chef Janine Falvo and try out her new menu. She was really cool and excited about her position as executive chef at The Renaissance. This is what we sampled:
