Lumene Skincare Review

I was recently sent these 4 products by Lumene to try out and I had never heard of the brand before. So, I decided to do something different and use the products for an entire month without knowing anything about them. I had no idea how much they cost or where they were sold. It ended up being an interesting experiment. Read below to find out what I thought!

450
Lumene Bright Touch Refreshing Cleansing Foam Onsale now for just $8

450
Lumene Complete Rewind Recovery Day Cream SPF 15 Onsale now for just $18

450
Lumene Bright Now Visible Repair Day Cream SPF 15 Onsale now for just $18

450
Lumene Time Freeze Ultra Firm Elixir Beauty Pearls Onsale now for just $18

Right away I must say that the entire time I used these 4 products I thought Lumene had to be an expensive luxury brand so imagine my surprise when I found out they are sold at Walgreens. The regular prices are fantastic but right now they are onside even cheaper! Amazing. I loved both of the day creams. I couldn’t tell a difference between them as far as what they did for my skin but they were everything I want in a day cream. Good texture, SPF and my makeup went on perfectly over it. The fragrance is super light which is also a plus. The foaming cleanser is perfect for everyday. It has a wonderful, light orange fragrance and doesn’t strip my face. The Time Freeze serum is something I feel neutral about. Like most serums, I find it hard to tell what it’s actually doing. Maybe people with more mature skin with target areas see a difference but its a tough sell for me at this point. All in all I think Lumene is a wonderful brand that feels luxurious without breaking the bank!

Sheer Houndstooth Shirt by Equipment from Return Engagement ($23) High Wasted Black Jeans by Highway 9 ($16) Shoes GAP ($20) Sunnies DTLA ($5) Yellow and Black Clutch Alexander McQueen ($250) I know thats NOT a steal, it was a splurge at last years blogger shopping trip to the Cabazon Outlets, but I love mixing high and low pieces to create a unique look.

Everyone knows I love a bargain but I also love quality too so that is why I am a huge fan of consignment stores. I have been buying and selling clothes at Return Engagement in Redondo Beach ever since I moved to CA in 1999 and there is always a treasure to be found there. I have written about them before here and here. Last week I stopped by to drop off a few things (that almost feels as good as buying something) and scored 3 amazing pieces. 1. This beautifully crafted houndstooth shirt by Equipment for just $23. I wore it out to date night Happy Hour with my hubby at my favorite HH spot Parkers Lighthouse. 2. A gorgeous short sleeve silk shirt by DVF for just $23. It looked brand new and I knew it would be perfect on my friend Mary. It fit her perfectly! 3. A brand new pair of black and white printed jeans by H&M for $13 seen here. I know they wouldn’t be much more at H&M but they were brand new and I was shopping with credit I had from selling things so it was a win win! What are your favorite consignment stores and what awesome deals have you scored lately?

Friday Faves

Bags_Lady1

My bags are packed! This weekend we are hitting the open road and heading out to Sin City for a couple of days to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary! I am super excited to spend time with my husband and just relax. It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks and we haven’t seen much of each other so the timing is perfect.  What are you up to? Here are some of my faves this week…

* I hungout at the newly redesigned Estérel in the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills for their unveiling party last night and it was gorgeous. There is a ton of outdoor garden and cabana seating that would be perfect for Sunday brunch. I can’t wait to go back!

* Tomorrow night is the Annual White Light White Night Charity event for Walk With Sally in Manhattan Beach. A ton of celebs will be there including my 2 favorite Heathers…Dubrow and McDonald. Hopefully I run into at least one of them! Last time I checked there were still a few tickets left!

* Thursday July 30th Create Nightclub will host the 6th Annual LUCKYRICE LA Feast featuring the best up and coming chefs and plenty of Asian-influenced cocktails. Tix are $150 VIP and $88 GA.

* Rilastil is one of the top skincare lines in Italy and I have been using the Long Lash Mascara ($32) and Illuminating Eye-Contour Cream ($70) for the last month and love them both! I normally wouldn’t spend this much on a mascara but this one is worth every penny. The mascara wand is flexible and really separates the lashes. It contains red algae extract thats helps to strengthen your lashes. It doesn’t clump or flake either which is amazing. The eye cream has a really cool applicator tip that smoothes it right under the eye and it contains 31 active ingredients to lift, firm, and brighten the delicate skin under the eye area. I feel like it has really improved the appearance of my dark circles.

* Christie Brinkley…who doesn’t love her? She has always been naturally beautiful so when I heard she had a line of skin care now I had to try it. I have been using the Complete Clarity Daily Facial Exfoliating Polish for a few weeks now and I am a huge fan. It is gentle, cleanses and exfoliates at the same time, has a very light fragrance, and is under $25. My one tip is to make sure you really wash it off well. A couple of times I didn’t and my face felt a little felt gritty when I was putting on my moisturizer.

* I love a mud mask and the Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Revival Mud Mask ($38) is the bomb! It only takes 15 minutes, feels cool as it settles into your skin, and unclogs pores, detoxifies and hydrates. It truly is a miracle and they sell it at Nordstrom. The next time you get a “note” (true Nordies will know what I’m talking about) treat yourself!

* Speaking of Nordstrom, the Anniversary Sale is going on now until Aug 2nd and Whish (I love them…remember their fun event at Ulta?) has created an exclusive line called Soda Fountain Collection with a bath and body gel ($15) and a body butter ($12) in delicious flavors like Orange Cream (my favorite), Black Cherry, Ginger Melon and Key Lime.

Citadel Outlets is proud to be a part of the Los Angeles community welcoming the 2015 Special Olympics World Games with their Reach Up and Shop! Program. From Saturday, July 25- Monday, Aug. 2, World Games athletes, family members, volunteers and honored guests can show their World Games badge to receive 20% off top name brands across the center!

* There’s a new shopping site called Her Velvet Vase out of Singapore that just launched in the US that has super chic clothing and accessories that are all under $100!

* There is a great Norman Seeff rock-n-roll photography show at  Ron Robinson  in Santa Monica thru August 30th. One more reason to stop in and check out this awesome store!

Have a super fun and magical weekend! XO

Spray Tan at Home with Tropic Spa

IMG_0036

You know that I am a huge of spray tans and at home tanning and I have written about them before here and here. So, I was super excited when I was asked to test out this at home spray tanning system by Tropic Spa. It is by far my favorite at home tanning product/system yet! I have to admit that I was a huge skeptic before I tried it. I was actually nervous that I might turn out freakishly dark or have a Ross from Friends moment so I decided to try it out on a day that I didn’t have to leave the house. You can imagine how happy I was when nothing tragic happened! I got the lightest, most even, gorgeous tan I have ever experienced at home. The machine is SO easy to use and you can build your tan by spraying again the next day AND there is almost no scent. It sprays on fast and dries quickly. It is everything I could possible want in a spray tan and it isn’t harmful to my skin like the sun!

Here are some of my tips for getting the best tan from the Tropic Spa tanning machine:

1) Wear the protective gloves/caps over your hair, hands and feet. Work the excess product over hands and feet lightly when done.

2) Do follow the instructions and rub in the product all over after being misted.

3) Don’t apply body cream to knees or elbows like you would before applying a cream self tanner. This system won’t tan through it.

4) Do exfoliate and shave before tanning and use the system on clean, dry skin.

5) I hung the system on my bathroom door and put a towel down on the floor. When it is done spraying and you take the covers off your feet step onto a different, clean towel or you will get spry on the bottoms of your feet.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. I am so in love with this tanning system!

For the month of June Tropic Spa is offering a special for my readers! Use code 9JRGK at http://www.tropicspatan.com and get a Spray Tanning System complete with the spray tan cans and everything you need for $249 (reg. $299) and a set of refill cans for $50 (reg. $100). You get 10 sprays with one set of cans so that comes out to $25 a spray (with the initial system purchase) which is less then going to get a spray tan at a tanning salon!

Cheers to a healthy summer glow!
