Last night I only caught bits and pieces of the VMA’s on TV’s in a noisy sports bar in the Marriott. I really only cared about the clothes though anyway right? From what I have read today I think maybe I was better off having only seen and not heard. What did you think? Let me know if I missed anything. Was it actually worth watching? Here were my top 10 favorite looks of the night! Who were yours?
T Swift was hands down my best dressed of the night! Absolute perfection! I went nuts over her 2 piece outfit by Ashish! I would totally rock that. It had a Gwen Stefani vibe and I could see it being awesome in different colors too.
What couple could pull off all this denim? Only Pharrell Williams and his lovely lady Helen Lasichanh. How cute are they?
I loved this Stella McCartney jumpsuit on Hailee Steinfeld. Absolute perfection!
I love this dress and thought Britney Spears looked fantastic!. Her boobs looked a bit squished and about to burst out but hey…it was the best I have seen her look in a long time!
This dress looks like it was from the same family as Britney’s. Liquid gold. It fit Nicki Minaj perfectly and looked like it had been poured on her. I thought she looked fabulous!
The design of this dress on FKA Twigs was architectural and interesting. I thought she looked fab!
This look on Ciara was just hot! What you should wear to the VMA’s! I loved the fringe!
Lily Aldridge rocked the deep V. This dress hugged her body perfectly!
Vanessa Hudgens looked like a goddess in this flowy pastel dress. Love, love, love!
I loved everything about this look on Jussie Smollett from the hat to the shoes and everything in-between. He looks comfortable and stylish!
I absolutely love Baddie Winkle and am always thrilled to see her fashion posts on Instagram. You can see her story here.

Saturday night was perfect for the White Light White Night party in El Segundo benefitting Walk With Sally, a non-profit that provides mentoring support programs to children of parents or siblings with cancer. There were delicious tastings of beer, wine, food and sweets from over 40 of the best restaurants in the South Bay along with a ton of awesome things up for auction and a performance by the Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond! What a night for a great cause!
1) Me and Mary dressed in our best white! No red wine for me…ha! 2) The rum milk and oreos from Cake Bakeshop were one of our favorites of the night 3) I loved the KISS wine bottle display at the Rock’n Fish booth. 4) The beer at Camp Brew co. was deelish. 5) How cool is this bike that was up for auction? Perfect for cruising The Strand.
These awesome shoes on the feet of one of the guys from Super Diamond, of course!
See how you can get involved with Walk With Sally, and get tickets for their next upcoming event at the new Nordstrom before it opens in the South Bay!
Sheer Houndstooth Shirt by Equipment from Return Engagement ($23) High Wasted Black Jeans by Highway 9 ($16) Shoes GAP ($20) Sunnies DTLA ($5) Yellow and Black Clutch Alexander McQueen ($250) I know thats NOT a steal, it was a splurge at last years blogger shopping trip to the Cabazon Outlets, but I love mixing high and low pieces to create a unique look.
Everyone knows I love a bargain but I also love quality too so that is why I am a huge fan of consignment stores. I have been buying and selling clothes at Return Engagement in Redondo Beach ever since I moved to CA in 1999 and there is always a treasure to be found there. I have written about them before here and here. Last week I stopped by to drop off a few things (that almost feels as good as buying something) and scored 3 amazing pieces. 1. This beautifully crafted houndstooth shirt by Equipment for just $23. I wore it out to date night Happy Hour with my hubby at my favorite HH spot Parkers Lighthouse. 2. A gorgeous short sleeve silk shirt by DVF for just $23. It looked brand new and I knew it would be perfect on my friend Mary. It fit her perfectly! 3. A brand new pair of black and white printed jeans by H&M for $13 seen here. I know they wouldn’t be much more at H&M but they were brand new and I was shopping with credit I had from selling things so it was a win win! What are your favorite consignment stores and what awesome deals have you scored lately?
I LOVE TARGET! Who doesn’t? There is always a treasure to be found in there! I have loved the look of the bucket bag for awhile now but just haven’t been able to commit to spending a lot of money on one. Then, I stumbled upon this beauty for just $35 in Target. How could I say no? I think it looks and feels like a much higher end bag. I love mixing high and low end items to create a chic, fresh look. I must admit, it has taken some getting used to as far as the wear of it. At first it felt like I was carrying a bowling ball around on my shoulder. You can fit a ton of stuff in there and it all sort of gets lost in the bottom, but I have gotten used to it and now I love it. Unfortunately, they are all sold out online but are still available in select Target stores. Have you found any cheap but chic treasures lately?
Last month I went camping at Lake Cachuma near all the cute little towns like Solvang, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, and Los Alamos. I was so happy I brought this denim gem that I just got at GAP because I wore it everyday! It is so lightweight and comfortable and can be worn with flats, sandals, or wedges and it always looks super chic but still casual. I don’t think I have rocked a jumpsuit since I was a kid, so this purchase was WAY out of my comfort zone but I love it and it has become my go to summer piece!
Jumpsuit GAP, Sunnies by Quay from Topshop, Vintage glass bead necklace that I just got that day from The Depot Antique Mall & Wine Pub, Purse (my camping bag) from Walmart years ago, Old TOMS for camping
